History of Change Lives Africa

In 2015, Mulema Isaac Posiyano (Lemus Ug) had a ‘simple’ dream to help orphaned children in Masaka. After growing up from the streets of Nyendo, his life was rescued with the generosity of one family. As a result, he decided to start Change lives Africa to build a generation of children with hope.
There’s no simple reason. A combination of poverty, neglect and abuse push children into the streets. Some lost their parents to HIV/AIDS. Too many children in Uganda are forced to take care of themselves, homeless and alone, when they are as young as five years old.

In reality though, most children here are not completely orphaned, but come from deeply broken, desperately poor homes where HIV/AIDS has destroyed family structure, as well as physical and mental health. Our work over the years has taught us that in order to effectively provide for orphans and other vulnerable children, we must focus on their extended families and the greater community as well.

As a holistic, community-based organization, we also run an Outreach program. Whenever we can, we offer educational and medical support to those who can’t afford it.

Together, we’re changing lives
We provide interim care for orphaned and abandoned children in Uganda.
We also work closely with their families, empowering them to care for their children in their home.

Empowerment

We work with families to help them set up a business in their community. With ongoing income, the family can provide for themselves.
Independence

Working closely with families makes it possible for them to look after their own children into the future. We give families a hand up so they can be free from poverty.

Yamba Foundation is committed to providing an education for each child we work with, enabling them to access a local primary and secondary school. Yamba’s goal is to develop responsible and self-reliant young adults.

Main Objective

The main purpose of the Organization is to take care of orphans and vulnerable children, empower them by providing education and vocational training to make them useful members of society.

Specific Objectives
- Assist Orphans and Vulnerable Children get school fees.
- Provide learning materials such as textbooks to less fortunate children.
- Provide social and psychological support through counseling to children in need.
- Help children develop skills and knowledge necessary for coping with challenges from emerging issues in society e.g. poverty, HIV/AIDs, children rights, corruption, pollution etc.
- Help children acquire technical and vocational skills required in the dynamic society.
